MSC's Nastran product is one of the most widely
used finite element analysis software , specially designed for analyzing dynamic
systems. This software does not create a graphic of a model, but it is used by various software called Solver
and graphic forms are extracted from them. The input and output of this
software are in text file. This software, in combination with Patran
software, can provide detailed and complex analyzes. This software only includes
the command line and does not have graphical appearance. It takes the
input file and performs the operation in its text computing space and outputs
it. This software is also used by CATIA software.
Unique multidisciplinary
organization of engineers and the software for structural analysis at multiple points in their product
development process. Multi-disciplinary structural analysis, structural
modeling and automatic structural optimization are among the benefits of this
software. Using this software engineers are convinced that structural
systems have the strength, durability and hardness needed to prevent any
imperfections, such as excess stress, unwanted exacerbations or deformations,
which can be a combination of topics related to operational and structural
safety.

MSC Nastran is a multidisciplinary structural
analysis application used by engineers to perform static, dynamic, and thermal
analysis across linear and nonlinear domains, complemented with automated
structural optimization and award-winning embedded fatigue analysis
technologies, all enabled by high performance computing.
Engineers use MSC Nastran to
ensure structural systems have the necessary strength, stiffness, and life to
prevent failure (excess stresses, resonance, buckling, or damaging
deformations) that may compromise structural function and safety. MSC
Nastran is also used to improve the economy and passenger comfort of structural
designs.
Manufacturers leverage MSC Nastran's unique multidisciplinary approach to structural analysis at various points in the product development process. MSC Nastran may be used to:
- The virtual prototype in the early design process, saving costs traditionally associated with physical prototyping.
- Remedy structural issues that can occur during a product's service, reducing downtime and costs.
- Optimize the performance of existing designs or develop unique product differentiators, leading to industry benefits over competitors.
MSC Nastran is based on sophisticated numerical methods, the most prominent being the Finite Element Method. Nonlinear FE problems can be solved with built-in implicit numerical techniques. A number of optimization algorithms are available, including MSCADS and IPOPT. The fatigue capability in MSC Nastran has been developed jointly by nCode International Ltd. and MSC Software.
